Product Empties - October 2013

I am pretty terrible with keeping empty bottles of things. I like to avoid clutter and keep things clean and organized and so my first reaction to empty products is to chuck it awayyy asap.

Well now, see what I did for you guys here. That's right. I went against my natural inclinations and kept the darned things haha!

Basically I used these up in the last month. This post is also going to be a little weird in that I would recommend almost all the products I have used up for repurchase. The reason for this is that I very rarely just pick something up that I have not researched in advance. So because the purchase was well thought out in the beginning, there is really very little chance of me not liking the product. There are also empty packages (masks and lotions etc) that did not quite make it to this post because....they were packets and which meant I threw them right away?!? I'm so sorry! >_<

I am also going to put my own rating and verdict for each product.

Example:

Product Name : a bit of info
Rating : 5 out of 5
Verdict: Will Repurchase or Will Not Repurchase

So without further ado, lets get started:

  • SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion - My summer toner. This was great in keeping dead skin layers in check since it contains AHAs. I have read somewhere (very scholarly not to have a source for this info, i know) that AHAs are better for dry skin in terms of keeping acne at bay, while BHAs are more suitable for oily gals. I honesty think this product did keep breakouts away, or at the very least, kept them from getting worse/more inflamed.
    • Rating: 5 out of 5
    • Verdict: Repurchased
  • L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil - I really like this shower oil. The smell is divine and its very moisturizing. Because I have such dry skin, I need this in my life. The only downside is the price for such a small bottle. Top tip: I found a 500 ml refill version on the L'Occitane website (you can find it here) with better value per ml. Granted it doesn't come with the bottle, but if you have an empty one lying around then hey! Save the environment and refill.
    • Rating: 5 out of 5
    • Verdict: Repurchased
  • SK-II Cellumination Essence EX - I use this as my day serum but you can certainly also use it at night. With this empty bottle, I found that my hyper-pigmentation has diminished and it also made the complexion more even and radiant. If you find you suffer from discoloration from previous breakouts and your skin is also dry, then this is a good serum to have since it addresses both issues (no need to have 2 separate serums to layer)
    • Rating: 5 out of 5
    • Verdict: Repurchased a bigger bottle
  • Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural Lift and Sculp Cleansing Balm - Winner for the longest name. I forgive it though, since it is such a lovely cleanser. I really really enjoyed the scent this balm has and the slip it gives is great for a facial massage too! As previously mentioned in my review (you can read it here), I use a flannel face cloth to wipe off.
    •  Rating: 4 out of 5
    • Verdict: Will not repurchase (for now) since I am using a different face oil
  • Kate Sommerville Oil Free Moisturizer - I use this moisturizer primarily if I want to use makeup that day. It has been able to take whatever base makeup (primer, foundation, BB cream, or CC cream <-- not all at the same time!) I layer on top without flaking. It also is my "safe" moisturizer that I use when times of trouble (read: that time of the month when i get hormonal breakouts). I find because it is oil-free that it doesn't offend what is already lurking under my skin. Expensive but worth it, in my honest opinion.
    • Rating: 5 out of 5
    • Verdict: Repurchased
