Here we are in 2014. How has your new year been so far? I have been busy spending time with family and friends, as well as cleaning the house and starting the new year fresh.
But before we forget about 2013, I want to tell you guys about my favourite products from last year. This particular post would be centered on skincare, which we all know by now is what I'm about lol. Another post that would be about make-up would be up in the next few days.
Without further ado, let's start.
- Cleanser
Winner: Gokujyun Hadalabo Super Hyaluronic Acid Foaming Wash
Quick Take: Cheap. It works without drying your skin. Gentle without unnecessary ingredients. Now I am not an expert on ingredients or skincare but if I have to make an analogy for this cleanser - its like the gentle Cetaphil cleanser - except it foams and is 100x better IMO. lol.
Runner up: SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser
Quick Take:This was a tough one. But I have to give it the Alpha H Liquid Gold. It really is the best thing in terms of overnight effective exfoliation and treatment. In a previous series I dubbed as One Week of Pampering, I talked about the benefits of glycolic acid in Glycolic Friday. If you have bouncy young skin, anything up until mid-20's, then you may not need this. But for us approaching the beautiful years of 30's and above, this is a must try.
Runner up: Cure Natural Aqua Gel
Quick Take: This product stole the spot for toner winner. Its such a refreshing and effective toner that it was able to beat the runner-up even though I only started using this towards the last quarter of the year! You can just feel the goodness of organics when you use this.
Runner up: SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion
Quick Take: The best thing I started using during 2013. Really worth the money. I have already repurchased this 3 times. I finished the 250 ml bottle, started a 330ml giant bottle, and have a backup of a 70ml bottle for travel. Yes. I'm prepared for the zombie apocalypse with this one. I will at least get eaten with smooth and young-looking skin. Thank you.
Runner up: None
- Serum
Quick Take: This was another tough pick. I really love how this serum used at night can make you look so much more rested in the morning. That was one of the claims of this serum and at first I was like, oh no you liar... well I ate my words. I am a big believer now.
Runner up: SK-II Cellumination Essence EX
Quick Take: I don't think I have had the chance to talk about the Aesop Control Cream on this blog. But I read about this spot treatment from another beauty blog I love to read by Caroline Hirons, and decided to give it a try back in November. This is seriously a skin saver. You know about the other spot treatments in the market that are so strong they dry you skin so much that it flakes? Yah? Well this one is NOT like that. Its amazing how it still treats the blemishes and makes it less irritated without being so harsh that it strips your skin from your face. A great one to have in your skincare arsenal.
Runner up: Kate Sommerville EradiKate Acne Treatment
Quick Take: Without a doubt my most used moisturizer ever since I found out about it this year (and I have several floating around yet I keep picking this one) . I am in my 4th pot of this - one lasts me about 3 months of daily use. Its makes my dry skin beautifully hydrated. This from a moisturizer targeted for oily skin. Buy it. Buy it now.
Runner up: Origins Make A Difference Plus + Rejuvenating Moisturizer
- Body Lotion
Quick Take: Admittedly, this one a very thick and rich cream. Suitable for the dry cold weather. Just the time when I need to add moisture back to my limbs and body. This one is a beast. A pea size amount can take care of both your arms. Its that potent.
Runner up: L'Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate
Quick Take: Cheap. Effective. Nice. Will make you feel like a pampered princess when you use face mask every night. I heard this is a big thing in Japan right now (nightly face mask). This won't break the bank. I love these.
Runner up: The Face Shop Hyaluronic Baby Face Mask
Annddd drum roll please. Done and done. I hope this post was a fun read for you! Do let me know what your favourites are from 2013.
As a random side note: I typed this post while lisening to Katy Perry's Dark Horse. Got my writing juices flowing. lol
See you in my next post!
xoxo
