Hair Care Routine: Winter 2013 Edition
I usually don't have any problems when it comes to my tresses. I have been blessed with a fairly healthy head of hair that I don't do much with. Styling it barely on special occasions... not because I don't want to but because I lack the skill? Lol.
Anyway here's my winter routine when it comes to hair.
I wash my hair every other day. I try to be mindful of the shampoo I use and have recently switched to one suitable for sensitive scalp.
I love this one from Aesop. The Aesop Calming Shampoo is suitable for sensitive scalp that can become dry, itchy and flaky. Sounds great right? It comes out of the bottle as a clear gel, with a very minty, herby, very fresh smell. It also leaves your hair very shiny after wash! I got mine from Holt Renfrew but I believe Aesop USA ships to Canada if you want to order online.
Next up is conditioner. The only I'm currently using (and sadly almost running out of) is the Shiseido Tsubaki Shining Conditioner. This one really conditions my hair without weighing it down and you don't have to use a lot. I bought mine in Japan but I have seen lots of this being sold in asian beauty stores. Its easy enough to get a hold of in Toronto (Pacific Mall, Yonge and Finch area, Chinatown).
Moving on, once a week I would do a deep condition. I really like the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque. I concentrate the application towards the ends of my hair and leave it on for 10 to 15 minute. During this time I would try to do other things like exfoliate my body or something lol. I really think this step helped a lot with fending off split ends. Mine has gone down drastically since I started using this.
After shower, I use another Macadamia product which is the No Tange Pre-Styler. I comb that through with their Infused Comb before I blow-dry my locks. Once my hair is dry, I may follow with the Healing Oil treatment on the lower half section of my hair. Sometimes I like to add a little bit of texture and volume by using either of two products. One being the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish spray or more recently I picked up the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. I'm not sure which of these two I prefer more but I'm thinking of doing a post comparing the two so watch out for that.
Finally, one last tip. Winter can really wreck havoc on hair so make sure you take care of the ends by getting regular trims and doing your weekly deep conditioning treatment. Hope this was informative for you guys!
xoxo
