The Weekend Post : Triple Mask Treat

Today I decided to give myself a bit of a pamper by using three masks targeting my skins different issues!

I was inspired by this post by another of my closely followed blogs - ViviannaDoesMakeup.  I thought "what a great idea!" and proceeded to come up with my own line-up of products that would have the same skin reviving effects. So let's get on with it shall we?

After some gentle face cleansing, I slather on the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask. Side story, I only have a tiny sample pot of this that I picked up from Sephora and so today I decided that I'm gonna go ahead and buy the full size version but lo and behold - it was sold out! Thankfully, the Beauty Insiders event (15% off anything in store - you can sign up for their points system and take advantage of this sale as well) at Sephora will be running until April 22nd, so hopefully I can track one down before it ends and add this to my ever growing skincare stash.

Anyway, I apply this mask with a foundation brush - I use the pointed foundation brush from the Real Techniques Core Collection but any similar brush will do - because its easier to leave an even layer all over versus using my fingers. Then I let the charcoal mask do its thing - you can totally feel it working as it sucks up any impurities from your pores and tightens them as well - and after 10 minutes I use a warm, dampened muslin cloth (I have this one from Emma Hardie) to gently wipe the hardened mask off. Once that's done I go ahead with a quick splash of warm water to make sure the last clay bits are gone then I move on to mask #2!

I have been hearing a LOT of good things about the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask in the blogging world and so I finally bought one to see what the fuss is all about. This mask has FOUR acids in it and they are lactic, glycolic, tartaric and citric acids. If you have read my previous post about the Liquid Gold, then you would know that I am a huge fan of glycolic acid so I was excited to try this mask out and gauge how it compares. After leaving it on for the suggested 10 minutes - while experiencing some serious skin tingling in the beginning - I was pleased to see that it did leave my complexion "glowy" and very smooth! I bought this mask as part of this set for better value as it comes with the full size mask and 2 extras, as well as its own version of muslin cloth, for only C$4 extra dollars. I am quite pleased with this purchase and definitely will continue reusing it weekly!

Finally, after the deep pore cleaning from mask 1 and the serious exfoliation from mask 2, its time to inject some much needed moisture back into my skin and for this I use the Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask. This mask has a light texture and is absorbed well into the skin as I gently massage it all over my face in small circular motions. It only takes a minute of working in and soon the mask is absorbed with no need for washing off. I like that its never greasy and I just wake up with plump and well moisturized skin in the morning.

And whoa-la! I am done with my very own at home facial. I think its important that we do some deep cleaning, exfoliation and extra moisturization once a week to treat the skin and keep it well behaved. In the end, great skin needs less makeup and anything you put on top will just be the icing on the cake, so to speak! Hope you guys found this post helpful.
