My everyday makeup look is very minimal and neutral. But after taking a picture of the products I've been loving this past week to create my everyday face... I'm reminded that a minimal look does not necessarily mean minimal number of products *insert grimace here*.
I had to number the products above instead of labelling them individually because Mr. HC (a.k.a personal graphic designer) pointed that the long names simply won't fit the frame. Oh well, we compromised.
So here they are as numbered:
- Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded
- Nars Blush in Deep Throat
- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light
- Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Moisturizing Stick
- Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 08
- Sana Pore Putty BB Cream SPF 50+++
- Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara
- Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
- Stila Smudge Stick Waterproff Eye Liner in Halfmoon
- Hourglass Arch Brow Scultping Pencil in Dark Brunette
Before applying anything on your face, make sure that you have properly moisturized and allow for it to fully get absorb and sink in your skin.
Grab some tea and cookies and sit down with a warm blanket or something. This is going to be a long one!
For my base, I use Sana Pore Putty BB Cream. I picked this up in Japan last year because the package said #1 BB Cream. You can say I'm a trusting soul lol! This BB cream does not kid around with an SPF of 50+++. Texture wise its not greasy at all and dries to a satin finish. This BB cream diminishes the look of pores and thick enough to conceal blemishes and dark circles. I LOVE this.
Next up, I reach for Hourglass Arch Brow Scultping Pencil in Dark Brunette.
This two ended brow pencil is so convenient and you might scoff at the little brush thinking its too expensive but try it and you will see how well made it feels!
I then apply an all-over cream shadow on my lids. I recently picked up the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded while it was on sale at Shoppers. I have other cream shadows that's easily 3x the price and the quality is exactly the same. Worth the money.
To add a little definition along the lash line, I use Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Halfmoon that is part of the Stila In The Know Eye Shadow Pallette which is an all matte palette that you really need in your life. Unfortunately, you can't buy this particular shade on its own. But there are loads of other ones that are as creamy and easy to blend. The staying power is also amazing for this eye liner.
Afterwards, I curl my lashes with the cult favourite Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. I never really understood the point of curling lashes before I purchased this. I was using a revlon curler and results were "meh". Then I got this and something clicked. Curling your lashes before mascara is so important as it lends a more awake look and opens up your pretty peepers! Love it.
I bought mine at Sephora but heads up, it is not being sold on their website. Persevere and go to a bigger location and ask.
My favorite mascara at the moment is Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara. I like the brush head in this as its not made of plastic and grips my stubby lashes well. I am blessed with short stubborn lashes that refuse to stay curled. So far though, this mascara manages to use anti-gravity powers and keep my lashes up for longer. Remember though, that most the prep is actually in the eye lash curling step. Make sure you are using the proper eyelash curling technique. Watch the great makeup artist Wayne Goss show you how here.
Are you guys still with me??? Okay now we're done with the eyes, let's move onto the face. I currently picked up NARS Blush in Deep Throat (rude, I know). Imagine the widely popular and loved NARS Blush in Orgasm but with less of the gold shimmers! Lovely shade, this. I apply in apples of my cheeks sweeping slightly upwards until I reach my temples.
Next, I apply Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light using a big fluffy powder brush. This is the newest love of my life. Its so amazing that I am contemplating picking it up in all of the available colours. Sadly I can't justify buying all of them because of the price *sad face*. I will try to explain why I love it so much. When you put this all over your face, it creates a lighting effect that mimics a very flattering soft focus. It also gets rid of shine (very important for my combo skin as I can get oily in my T-zone) and sets your makeup base. Go and buy it. Stat.
Okay, almost done. I keep it simple for my lips as well. I use Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Moisturizing Stick to prep my lips and then apply Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 08. Prepping the lips is a must for me as I have dry, flaky lips (gross, I know). After that sits for a while, my lipstick applies better without highlighting the dry patches. The entire line from Kate Moss is unbelievably good value for your money. The shades are flattering and for someone as picky as me when it comes to lipstick - it has to be just right - I really like these. It doesn't have that musky old lady smell and/or taste. They also almost always go on sale at Shoppers and you can pick them up for a very reasonable price.

And there we go! All done. It really only takes me 10 mins to slap this all on. So please don't get overwhelmed and daunted. Thanks for reading!
